Project Summary
Nettles installed a tapered Elastizell lightweight insulating concrete (LWIC) roof deck system over the new Barry County Jail and Sheriff’s Office building.
The Problem
N-form Architecture was looking for a high quality and durable roof system for the new Barry County Jail and Sheriff’s office. This building will be in use for decades, and the owner will bear the cost of maintaining, repairing, and eventually replacing the roof. They were looking for a roof deck system that will protect their facility and reduce life-cycle cost.
The Nettles Solution
The Elastizell LWIC roof deck system provides permanent roof insulation, as well as high R-values and an airtight roof assembly. The owner got a 20-year warranty on the entire roof system, which includes the Elastizell LWIC deck and a Sarnafil PVC roof membrane.
In LWIC roof deck systems, lightweight insulating concrete can be poured directly over the previous roof membrane. This reduces the mess and expense of removing old insulation, minimizes debris, and lessens the environmental impact of installation. When it’s time to replace the Barry County Jail roof, the Nettles LWIC solution will save the owner up to 75% the cost of a typical roof replacement.
Nettles is one of the largest and most respected subcontractors and installers of LWIC roof deck systems in the Midwest. We work across the Midwest, including Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Texas. To learn more, check out our other featured projects or get in touch with an expert.
