Tectum Roof Deck Systems

What are Tectum roof deck systems?

Tectum roof deck panels have been specified in roofing construction for decades. Especially common in the ‘60s and ‘70s, they are often used in applications like gymnasiums, natatoriums, classrooms, and restaurants, where acoustical insulation is a priority.

Panels are made of sustainable aspen wood fiber bonded with inorganic hydraulic cement, creating a durable and high-performing deck.

Advantages of Tectum roof deck systems

  • Acoustical insulation: Depending on the type of Tectum used, roof deck systems can achieve an NRC (noise reduction coefficient) of up to 0.80.
  • R-values: Tectum deck is compatible with virtually any roofing material, and can achieve R-values of up to 44 as part of structural roof deck systems.
  • Sustainability: Tectum deck solutions meet sustainability requirements such as EPD, HPD, and Declare, and contribute to LEED V4, Living Building Challenge, and WELL Building Standard certifications.
  • Versatility: There is a wide array of Tectum deck types to choose from. Whether you need a nailable surface, tile for a sloped application, or a roof deck for high-humidity applications, there is a Tectum type to fit your project.

Types of Tectum roof deck we install

We have decades of experience installing all types of Tectum roof deck systems, including:

  • Tectum I: Available in plank, long span plank, and tile configurations, and offers excellent sound absorption at a competitive cost.
  • Tectum III and IIIP: For greater insulating value or high humidity areas, TIII panels combine acoustics, thermal insulation, and a nailable surface.
  • Tectum E & E-N: Composite panels constructed with EPS or GPS insulation that achieve UL classification at a competitive cost.
  • Tectum V: Used for Long Span conditions (up to 12’), these strong panels can be used for projects requiring fire-retardant-treated wood per IBC Section 603.1
  • Tectum IIIW: Designed for hurricane-prone areas that require Miami-Dade NOA approval.
